Such is the vast nature of Elden Ring and the fanaticism of FromSoftware’s fanbase, secrets are still being eked out of the iconic action RPG, several years after its release.
Lance McDonald, a known name in the Souls community, has discovered a new, never-before-seen cutscene showing demigod Miquella planting the Haligtree with his own bare hands.
Despite being interpretative by nature, people have forged careers out of trying to dissect FromSoftware’s often vague and ambiguous lore. It’s not something this author’s particularly interested in, but the emergence of this unused scene will presumably prompt a fresh wave of essays on the subject.
What’s fascinating is that the cutscene comes with a number of unused lines of dialogue, but as there’s no documentation to determine which order they’re supposed to be played in, McDonald has presented them in the order they’re listed.
Given the sheer scale of Elden Ring and its Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, we imagine this won’t be the last secret extracted from the release. It is interesting to see content like this emerge so many years later, and it makes us wonder what other details are buried in the code.
