Legendary game designer Ron Gilbert and his studio Terrible Toybox are on the verge of releasing their latest game, Death By Scrolling to consoles.

You may recall this game from last year's Gamescom Opening Night Live, where it was announced for PC. Now, the auto-scrolling roguelike RPG is bound for PS5, and what's more, it's due out in just a few days' time on 16th April 2026.

The game is a pixelated adventure in which you choose one of several characters, each with unique abilities, and aim to make your way out of purgatory. The catch is that each level is automatically scrolling, forcing you to always be on the move.

You need to avoid Death itself, earn gold to spend at shops, upgrade yourself with various power-ups, and even take on side quests as you constantly push forwards.

It also has Gilbert's sense of humour weaved into it with quirky characters and silly dialogue.

There's a cool concept here, and Steam reviews are Mostly Positive, so it seems to be onto something. If you're curious to try it, Death By Scrolling is only a few days away, and it'll set you back just $7.99.
