We have to admit, SOL Shogunate completely left our collective brain, but its silly, fun premise is enough to get us back in. Samurai and feudal Japan, but on the Moon? Sign us up.

Developer Chaos Manufacturing has put out a timely reminder of its crazy action RPG, by way of a dev diary video that goes over the lore and setting of the game:

Set in the far-flung future, the Moon is home to a series of cities burrowed into the lunar surface. These use centrifugal forces to replicate Earth's gravity, and are heavily inspired by Japanese history.

Shin Edo is a city that mimics feudal Japan, from its buildings to its customs. It stands in contrast to another of these lunar cities — Tenkyo, which is inspired by 1980s Showa-era Japan.

The video also gets into two major clans that form part of the backdrop for the story. There's the Tennoji clan, which controls interplanetary travel, as well as the train network on the Moon, and the Karasuma clan, which is all about immense mining operations.

It all leads to some really unique and cool visuals.

If you're interested in seeing more of the game itself, here's the reveal trailer:

There's no word on when it's releasing, but hopefully it's not too far out.
