For those of you who may have somehow missed the news last night, Graveyard Keeper is free for you to claim on the PS4 right now. There are no catches or hidden costs here; you don’t even need PS Plus. It’s a free game for you to claim and keep forever.
That’s largely because dev Lazy Bear Games wants to raise the profile of its upcoming sequel, Graveyard Keeper 2. This is coming to the PS5 in the near future, although no specific date has been announced.
Here’s what the blurb says about the new game:

“You are the Grand Inquisitor now. Restore the Town and lead your undead army into battle to save the realm from a zombie apocalypse. Welcome to Graveyard Keeper 2 – the sequel to the original, unhinged classic!”
Like the original you’ll be managing your own medieval graveyard, although new automation elements will allow you to scale up your operations like never before.
There’ll also be quests that’ll task you with rebuilding your nearby town in return for pure profits.
Here’s what the press release says: “Help the townsfolk restore their homes and turn their problems into revenue. Help the townsfolk rebuild their homes and complete quests throughout the city, as your undead workers take care of the heavy lifting behind the scenes. With zombie-based automation and structured systems, you can transform local efforts into a scalable and profitable operation.”
So it sounds like a gentle evolution of the original, then, and well worth paying attention to. If you’re enjoying your free PS4 game, this may be worth keeping an eye on.
