Bloodborne Is Officially Returning in Major Animated Movie, and a Big YouTube Personality Is Involved 1

Bloodborne fans, you've finally been fed. While it may not be quite the news you're looking for, it seems there are still some at Sony who remember the hardcore action RPG exists.

At CinemaCon, Sony Pictures has announced it's developing a Bloodborne animated movie, alongside PlayStation Productions and Lyrical Animation.

What's more, Seán McLoughlin, also known as Jacksepticeye on YouTube, is involved, serving as a producer on the film.

The Bloodborne movie will be an R-rated animated feature, and Sanford Panitch, president of Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group, described it as being "very true" to the fan-favourite PS4 exclusive.

The original game was co-developed by FromSoftware and Sony's now-defunct Japan Studio. It's a challenging action RPG that follows the Souls-like formula, albeit set in its own oppressive, bleak, gothic setting.

McLoughlin has been a huge ambassador of Bloodborne for many years, and has often asserted it's his favourite game of all time. His main YouTube channel, which he's been regularly uploading to for more than a decade, has accrued over 31 million subscribers and 17.5 billion views across more than 5,000 videos.

Posting on the Bloodborne subreddit, McLoughlin says he's "incredibly excited" to finally reveal the project.

"I am going to do everything in my power to make this the BEST Bloodborne adaptation possible," he writes. "Not only is it my favourite game ever made but I know how truly passionate the fans of this game are and how much hunger they have for more of it. I can’t share much about the project right now but man does it feel good to let you all know it’s happening."

Fans of the game have been clamouring for more pretty much since it launched back in 2015, with constant cries for a remaster, remake, ports to other platforms, or a sequel.

News of an animated feature film might not be quite the same thing, but it's at least signs of life, right?
