Bloodborne fans, you've finally been fed. While it may not be quite the news you're looking for, it seems there are still some at Sony who remember the hardcore action RPG exists.
At CinemaCon, Sony Pictures has announced it's developing a Bloodborne animated movie, alongside PlayStation Productions and Lyrical Animation.
What's more, Seán McLoughlin, also known as Jacksepticeye on YouTube, is involved, serving as a producer on the film.
The Bloodborne movie will be an R-rated animated feature, and Sanford Panitch, president of Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group, described it as being "very true" to the fan-favourite PS4 exclusive.
The original game was co-developed by FromSoftware and Sony's now-defunct Japan Studio. It's a challenging action RPG that follows the Souls-like formula, albeit set in its own oppressive, bleak, gothic setting.
McLoughlin has been a huge ambassador of Bloodborne for many years, and has often asserted it's his favourite game of all time. His main YouTube channel, which he's been regularly uploading to for more than a decade, has accrued over 31 million subscribers and 17.5 billion views across more than 5,000 videos.
Posting on the Bloodborne subreddit, McLoughlin says he's "incredibly excited" to finally reveal the project.
"I am going to do everything in my power to make this the BEST Bloodborne adaptation possible," he writes. "Not only is it my favourite game ever made but I know how truly passionate the fans of this game are and how much hunger they have for more of it. I can’t share much about the project right now but man does it feel good to let you all know it’s happening."
Fans of the game have been clamouring for more pretty much since it launched back in 2015, with constant cries for a remaster, remake, ports to other platforms, or a sequel.
News of an animated feature film might not be quite the same thing, but it's at least signs of life, right?

Slightly off topic but it's funny how YouTube works sometimes. I'm on there daily and looking at gaming content, yet this is the first time I've ever seen that person's name, despite him clearly having a very large following
Still no PS5 version though 😒
Hopefully they pull it off, honestly really surprising that Vaatividya of all people didn't get to be involved with either Bloodborne or the Elden Ring movie.
As a blood-starved fan I will completely eat this up 😬
I'm all for it... if only that this will be the catalyst for an updated version of the game.
Yeah this is not what we asked for at all... Hint...... It has the number 2 in it.
As long as we don’t have to hear Sean then I guess it could be ok.
Seems strange that (allegedly) Fromsoft didn’t want the professional and capable team Bluepoint to remake/remaster Bloodborne but are quite happy to let some random YouTuber step in and mess with the IP.
We shall see. Umbasa (wrong IP but apt).
@carlos82
I’ve never watched his channel but I have seen, or rather heard him in a few gaming showcases over the years.
I remember him because of the mad scramble for the mute button.
An animated tv series would be better than a movie considering there's tons of characters and lore just from the base game alone.
But well this is by the same studio who working on Death Stranding Mosquito and it's also R-rated. So i'm curious if they can do it right or not...
This might actually be the single most insane headline I've ever woken up to XD

'R-Rated animated Bloodborne adaptation produced by Jacksepticeye' feels like an idea I'd come up with after a night out in the town but to be fair here, Sean certainly has a long history in the realm of film-producing if memory serves me (granted nothing to the scale of THIS but still XD) so I'll reserve judgment until I actually see a trailer for myself because the concept of Bloodborne getting an animated adaptation sounds almost too good to be true right now XD
Hahahahahahahahaha but still not PS5 version or update dear lord 🤣🤣
@CaptD making tv and making games two different things fromsoftware has no history of making tv series lol
@Blaze215 it says it rated r so probably staying the way it is and it anime so probably will be on Crunchyroll
@GamerDad76 @themightyant @DennisReynolds At this rate I feel pretty confident that Sony will bring an updated version of Bloodborne back to the masses.....as a PS6 launch exclusive 💀

I don't know who the YouTube person is but I know what Bloodborne is and I like it so I guess I am mildly interested in this.
At least a sign of life from the Bloodborne world. Hope never dies!
Yeah Sony. This is what the players want. NOT! Try using your stake in FromSoftware and leverage as PLAYSTATION to convince them that a Bloodborne remake is a good idea. And put BluePoint on it. Oh, wait...
@Slayer25c
Indeed. I was suggesting that Fromsoft are (rightly) overprotective of the (Sony) IP and would probably be more concerned with this than a remaster, or possibly not who knows. Sony probably never even asked Fromsoft anyway,
Inb4 “look how they massacred my boy”
Oh and lol I guess.
We all know that we all dont want this 😞
@zhoont We already heard from a few sources that Bluepoint pitched this idea to Sony but FromSoft didn't want it.
@Tyrii Just let it stay as a single game. Not everything needs a sequel.
First Colbert gets involved with the new LOTR film and now Jacksepticbi worms his way into this. Yikes.
@Fizza and at 30fps 😂😭
Colour me interested. The heinous lack of Bloodborne in all our lives has gone on too long.
The Last of Us Part 1 and Part 2 Remastered came with the HBO series in 2022 and 2024.
Uncharted: Legacy of Thiefs Collection came with the movie in 2022.
Let‘s hope for the best.
What the actual fudge…
Huh.
Didn't know Jacksepticeye was still around.
Good for him though, seeing as he's a big fan of Bloodborne.
Fingers crossed that it is good as or even better than the graphic novels, I've read all of them now. I might even prefer them to the Dark Souls graphic novels, I've got a couple of region specific ones too but the main one is available on the usual places like Amazon. I originally bought them separate and now they do them as a set, I'm pretty sure they included some art-cards as a bonus. It would be 1-3 then 3-6. I'd definitely watch a live animated one. I'd recommend the Dark Souls graphic novels too, there's a very big meaty omnibus.
FFS... those first 4 words of the title got my heart racing.
I would start restocking some bloodbornium, but this is a Sony Pictures project, we all know the odds of this actually being good.
As one of my friends say, Sony Pictures is where you end up when even Warner says "nah bro, you're too incompetent to be working with us".
Hopefully, this means PlayStation licenses out Bloodborne to Bandai Namco. Same as they did with the other Japan Studio games in Freedom Wars Remastered and Everybody’s Golf: Hot Shots.
@carlos82 honestly 31 mil is a drop in the ocean if you consider how many people are online.
I read the title in Will Sasso’s Arnold Schwarzenegger voice.
I’m not sure how excited I am for the movie but, who knows, perhaps we finally see a PS5 version of Bloodborne to coincide with the release?
Imagine if the game was remade how much money Sony would make? Let's say they use a great studio like Bluepo... nevermind
