SEGA really knocked it out of the park with Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, the first game from its plan to revive some legacy franchises.
Developed by Lizardcube, the game is a super slick, side-scrolling action game with a fantastic art style and wonderfully fluid combat.
Now, the publisher has announced a release date for the upcoming DLC expansion, and it's done so with a brilliant animated trailer:
The Villains Stage DLC launches on 3rd April, 2026, challenging players to defeat a trio of guest antagonists from other SEGA properties.
Starring Dr. Eggman of Sonic the Hedgehog fame, Like a Dragon's Goro Majima, and Death Adder from Golden Axe, the DLC includes five new stages inspired by those same series. On top of that, the DLC pack includes:
- Two new Boss Rush modes
- Three new ninpo abilities
- Three new outfits for Joe
- Six new music tracks
If you have the Digital Deluxe edition of the game, you're entitled to the DLC once it arrives in April. Everyone else will be able to buy the DLC standalone for £8.99, or can opt to buy the Digital upgrade for £10.99, which includes all the Digital Deluxe extras.
On top of the Villains DLC, Art of Vengeance is also set to receive a major free update for all players.
This update includes a new Hardcore mode, combat system adjustments, and updates to visuals and UI.

I'm pretty pumped for this. I think Majima is a lame choice, but I'm sure it'll all be super fun. Mr. X Nightmare was an awesome DLC for SoR4, so I have a lot of faith in LizardCube.
well eggman feels a little incongruous, but otherwise all good
No Godzilla or Batman?
No idea who Eggman is but Dr Robotnik looked really cool in this trailer as did Death Adder and as much as I like Yakuza, I'm not sure we need it's characters ot appear in so many games. Overall though this looks excellent
@LikelySatan or Spider-Man or Hulk/Terminator
Let’s go. Great game! Ready for more.
The animated trailer they showed is amazing, but I wish they gave as modern Robotnik instead of his classic design, but I can't wait.
No sarcasm question for experienced players here: I've bought the Limited Run Games physical edition which is of course the North American region. My PSN account is from European region. As I recall, it should be possible to create an American account on my console, buy the DLC and play it on my European account?
Deluxe Edition is on sale until 26th for anyone interested. I am planning to buy it.
That animation on the trailer was so good!
Looking forward to this, or may wait for an inevitable GOTY edition.
@Czar_Khastik Yes!
I have a US, Japanese and Turkey account, you can buy from the store to use on your primary account, as long as the PSN account is active on that console (you can have up to 5 accounts active per console).
And you can buy US credit super easy online as well.
That was one of the best PS5 trailers I’ll see today.
@stocko Nice, thanks for the clarification, mate!
