Before Ace Combat 8 Soars onto PS5, Watch the Series' Evolution in Neat New Trailer

We're big fans of Ace Combat here at Push Square, and with the next game in the franchise coming later this year, we're pretty excited to see it reach new heights.

Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve was announced at The Game Awards 2025 back in December, and things have been a little quiet since then, but Bandai Namco has treated fans to a brief trailer that runs through each of the main titles in the long-running series.

It's worth a quick watch — Ace Combat has come a long way:

While the series began as Air Combat on PS1, the series didn't really take off until it reached PS2; Ace Combats 4, 5, and Zero are often held up as the holy trinity.

We'd argue that PS4 entry Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is up there too. It was a return to form of sorts with a great campaign, and has gone on to become the best-selling game in the series.

We're hopeful AC8 will continue to build on that momentum. There's no date for the new game beyond 2026.
