God of War: Sons of Sparta Is the Long-Rumoured 2D Game, Out Now on PS5

So the GoW Trilogy is in early development they said so don’t expect it in the next years.

I wonder what they’ve been working on since Ragnarok. Just this ok looking 2D game?

Doesn’t look…great. Definitely holding off for now, especially at a $30 price point.

I personally think there were better games to end the show on.

Cool shadow drop! But honestly not what i was expecting. I thought it’d be more like thay Castlevania game, now that looked great!

Way more excited for that trilogy remake! But still curious to see reviews for this, wont be long since it already out now

Trilogy is years away and we got this today? Umm idk. It looks okay. But I'd rather play it on a handheld (Steam Deck OLED, Switch 2) instead of my PS5 Pro.

I actually like this art style more than the PoP: Lost Crown art style I was expecting.

I bought it without an hesitation. I will definitely be playing this evening when I get home from work!

@Zeroo i was thinking this i love the fact they are doing a remake of the triolgy bht surely this is gonna take along time i would rather have a new orignal gow than wait many years for this or just do gow 1 then a new gow and alternate maybe.

Dang. This is the first time Sony do a shadow drop without marketing to build up the excitement for their 1st party game.

The game looks cool although i didn't expect playing as teen Kratos.

But I'll wait for a physical release.

After 20 years of seeing the omega logo it’s so weird to see anything else. It’s like stepping into an alternate timeline or something. 😂

@Zeroo The article clearly states this game was developed by Mega Cat Studios working with SM. Santa Monica definitely have something else in the works, most likely Corey Barlog's project.

I wouldn't be surprised if that and Intergalactic are Sony's main plans for 2027.

I'm surprised it's not available on PC. Though it was a shadow drop so I assume they prioritized the PS5 version first. Wonder if, when this does probably come to PC, Sony will port it to Switch, as well.

@Zeroo - Yeah, Shinobi602 just confirmed that Cory Barlog has been working on another game that it's not related to the remakes. It probably entered full production after Ragnarok released in 2022.

And he said earlier in the week that going by the release window they're aiming (2027?), it should be revealed this year.

@VeldinX That blackhole in the Nebulon 5 universe has been getting closer to earth. According to NASA anyways. Maybe we are starting to feel its immense gravitational pull to the point its bending spacetime?

I don't LOVE the art style (and I'm generally a fan of pixel art) but the overall concept and gameplay seems right up my alley. Will have to hold myself back from buying this right now because I have way too many other games to finish up!

@LogicStrikesAgain You may be onto something. That fits really well with Carson's tease in the State of Play and the Jason Schreier quote that Santa Monica's game is "not a new IP but it might feel like one".

@AdamNovice - Yeah, pre-production for a few years and then it only got the full Santa Monica team after Ragnarok released.

Added it to basket ... then thought ... hmm .. Il maybe just wait for reviews .... then remembered ... its a fricking GoW Metroidvania SHADOW DROP! My fave genre set in my fave series .... NO BRAINER!
