Phantom Blade Zero PS5

Phantom Blade Zero looks like it will be another landmark moment for the Chinese games industry, but interestingly, its potential appears to also be resonating with PS5 and PC players worldwide, too.

More than 50% of the game's wishlists are from outside of China, developer S-Game has revealed.

While it was a huge seller, most Black Myth: Wukong sales came from China, suggesting Phantom Blade Zero could have more of a worldwide appeal. The last update had Black Myth: Wukong at over 20 million copies sold. If Phantom Blade Zero can replicate that success and combine it with a Western appeal, the studio will have one of the year's best-selling titles on its hands.

The update comes from comments made on Weibo, where the team said:

What's gratifying is that while maintaining our number one position in the Chinese region, more than 50% of our wishlists come from overseas markets, with significant proportions from Brazil, Turkey, the Middle East, and other regions in addition to Europe and the United States.

Also included in the post is the news there won't be a new Phantom Blade Zero trailer in the Spring, like it has produced in years past. This is so S-Game can "focus all our efforts on the development and polishing of the full version of the game, with only six months left before its launch".

It then continues: "Showcasing promotional videos is crucial for maintaining publicity, but it consumes significant R&D resources, requiring substantial manpower for separate version packaging, testing, adjustments, and recording. For us, product quality always takes precedence over promotional needs."

With a PS5, PC release date set for 9th September 2026, the developer is now "in the crucial final stages of content completion, assembly, and continuous debugging of the gameplay experience. Our entire team is working tirelessly to create a game that we are truly satisfied with, one that leaves no regrets, within the limits of our capabilities, resources, and time."
