Danganronpa, the hit visual novel series from Spike Chunsoft, has surpassed global lifetime sales of 10 million.
The franchise recently celebrated its 15th anniversary, and it's now reached an impressive sales milestone as a cherry on top.
The Danganronpa series is broadly based on the visual novel structure, but the games feature elements like exploration, relationship building, and most importantly, courtroom-like trials in which you must discover the guilty party.
The first game, Trigger Happy Havoc, is about a bunch of students trapped inside a school and forced to play a devious game. To escape, they must kill another player and not be found guilty in the subsequent trial.
Later games build on this framework with new characters and plot lines, and the series has proven to be quite popular across several games and offshoots.
Danganronpa 2x2 is the next release in the franchise, a remake of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair with new content to boot.

I always felt like I should enjoy the Danganronpa games more than I do. Unfortunately the story tends to go off rails the longer the game goes on and they feature some truly insufferable characters.
I like it, but they wrote themselves into a corner after V3.
That is why they are making the other version of 2 on the remake, i am guessing. They may just create a new timeline and carry on with that one.
NYEH!?!?
I mean…
WOW, I’d never think that this franchise would grow so big.
I like Danganronpa but the wider storyline is really a bit rubbish. This meant that the sequels really struggled with a baseline for being intriguing and interesting. The second game managed to do a decent job with this constraint but the third game feels very tired by that point and the big twist is kinda whatever.
Also, while these kind of sales numbers are very impressive for a game like this, the first game was recently available for 89p on Steam, and all the games are regularly a few bucks.
While I like Danganronpa, they really dont have anywhere else to take it that isnt just a cash grab, imo. Id be much more interested in a Hundred Line port
The games were pretty decent but the characters writing was some of the worst I've ever seen
