GSC Game World has revealed that the first post-launch content update for STALKER 2 following the release of the PS5 version drops tomorrow, 16th December 2025.
This is a fairly substantial addition to the game, as it introduces an entirely new region to the game along with eight new quests promising hours of gameplay, seven new locations, and six extra characters to interact with. On top of all of that, the patch will add a new hub area in the Burnt Forest, including traders and a place to sleep.

It sounds like the new questline can be started by listening out for radio transmissions, particularly within the Red Forest region and the Malachite. "Professor Medulin witnessed everything with his own eyes. While being good at scientific research, he didn’t know enough about the radio signal and what to do to figure out what was happening. That’s where Banzai steps in, a radio enthusiast, who also joined the investigation, but something went wrong."
Here's a trailer showcasing the new quests:
As this is a free content update, it's not releasing as one of the two expansions the team has planned for the game now it's out. Have you been playing STALKER 2 on PS5 since its release? Let us know in the comments below.

220 hours into this so far, another few more couldn't hurt.
Such a wonderful buggy atmospheric world.
That platinum is almost within reach.
Freeeee? Good! Back on stalkers2 so. Amazing game. One of the best games i play on xbox and now playing on ps5. Tnx devs.
Has anyone played this since the big upgrade? Is it worth the investment, or should I wait for more patching?
@captainsandman I've played all my time on 1.7 and 1.7.1 and only had annoying mini bugs like being stuck on things, items glitching, and the odd time of buttons not doing anything, nothing hugely game breaking. Everything works as it should mission-wise and I'm right near the end.
Make sure to quick save a lot.
You guys ever gonna drop your review?
@Traman500 Yeah i've been wondering that. Its a high profile game so its weird they haven't reviewed it.
@captainsandman The big engine upgrade isn't until next year.
@DennisReynolds Good to hear. I'll hold off until then.
@captainsandman I will also say the game is in a fairly good state right now. Its still buggy but not game breaking and the bugs are more minor then major and performance is really good through does drop in the more busy settlement places.
If I like games like Kingdom Come 2, Cyberpunk, and the Metro games, will this be up my ally you think?
@captainsandman
Oh absolutely, like mixing Metro gameplay and Cyberpunks openness, with some very intense/ scary/ heart racing oh ***** oh ***** moments.
The ambiance with great headphones and a nice screen is breathtaking sometimes
This is fantastic news! I've been hammering this on PS5 since it released. It's an absolute gem of a game - easily right up there as my game of the year. I'm on 70 hours right now with only 1 proper crash & a couple of glitches (bodies clipping). What a game - more content & an area? I've still got so much to open up so I can see me enjoying this (220 hours you say)? Definitely needs your review - I wonder how many have written this off due to it's buggy launch on other platforms & are missing something really special.
@captainsandman absolutely! Personally finding it most similar to KDC in terms of game mechanics, and the gunplay is quite slick - more akin to Metro (as well as the tone). Like KDC if you fell in love with entering a seemingly alive world full of atmosphere, this is a great game for that.
Too bad it won't get a fully playable disc version.
Admittedly I'm playing on PC (so I can mod it later on) but it's pretty great already, I just finished my first playthrough and jumped straight back in to see how different choices play out - my suspicion is that the differences won't be huge, but should be flavorful
