Yacht Club Games has made the decision to delay its Zelda-esque PS5 game Mina the Hollower, only weeks before the Halloween launch was scheduled to take place.

In a post on the developer's official website, it's explained that despite the developer "working tirelessly day and night to finish development for release", it won't be done in time for the previously announced 31st October release date. It's not a "major delay", according to the studio; it's more of an extra "stretch of time to apply some final polish and balancing to make the game truly shine".

Here's what Yacht Club Games will work on with that extra development time:

  • Finalizing design, art, and sound
  • Overall game balancing
  • Implementing localization
  • Eating cheese
  • Testing, testing, testing… on all platforms!

Descend into a frightful world of action-adventure in Mina the Hollower. Take control of Mina, a renowned Hollower hurtled into a desperate mission to rescue a cursed island. Burrow beneath hazards and monsters, whip foes into oblivion, and gear up with an arsenal of sidearms and trinkets. Explore a vast world filled with pixel-perfect graphics, masterful gameplay, beastly bosses, and infectious music.

Since the team states this is just a small delay, it seems likely Mina the Hollower will still release for PS5 before the end of the year. If not, it'll be the first few months of 2026.

"We don’t want to announce another release date until it’s submitted to platforms, so please hang tight as we reach the finish line," it said. "The game is so close to being done- we’re playing it from start to finish every day."
