Update []:

As was teased yesterday, Battlefield Redsec is available now. Here's the official launch trailer:

REDSEC (which stands for redacted sector, by the way) is a 48-player, free-to-play battle royale. Owners of Battlefield 6 will have access as part of the full experience, but REDSEC is also available as its own standalone thing on PS Store.

If you want to download it standalone, you're looking at almost 71 GB, so make sure you have the space.

Here's the official blurb:

Drop into Fort Lyndon, a government testing ground turned warzone, where squads fight for survival in a Battle Royale only Battlefield can deliver. Experience massive-scale destruction, fast-paced squad play, and the deadliest ring in BR.

Survive and advance in Gauntlet, an all-new cutthroat, knockout-style elimination mode where squads race to complete missions and outlast the competition.

Fans can look forward to the full reveal, also tomorrow, when the gameplay launch trailer arrives:

While certain details about REDSEC have leaked in the past, it's always good to see official confirmation.

As far as actual details go, we know that it'll be built into Battlefield 6, but will also be available for everyone to download and play as its own thing, whether you own Battlefield 6 or not.

We'll be sure to update this story once the trailer goes live and the game is available.
