Marvel's Blade Release

Marvel's Blade is one of Xbox's most promising projects — a take on the iconic comic book franchise by Dishonored, PREY, and Deathloop developer Arkane Studios. However, it sounds like the game could still be a long way from actually releasing.

According to the company's latest financial report (as picked up by Timur222), Arkane's current AAA project — which is almost certainly Marvel's Blade — only entered full production in late 2024.

Given the length of modern, AAA development cycles, it's not at all unreasonable to believe that Marvel's Blade is at least a couple of years off.

Plus, we're yet to actually see the game in action; since its announcement at The Game Awards all the way back in 2023, the whole thing's been kept under wraps.

Just to be clear, Marvel's Blade hasn't been confirmed for a PS5 release yet — but Xbox's ongoing push towards launching more and more multiplatform games strongly suggests that it'll end up targeting Sony's system, much like The Outer Worlds 2.

There was some concern that Arkane would be impacted by Microsoft's recent layoffs — and there were even short-lived rumours that Marvel's Blade was cancelled alongside several other projects at different Xbox studios.

Thankfully, as alluded, those rumours turned out to be false, and as far as anyone's aware, Arkane is still in the driving seat when it comes to Marvel's Blade.

When do you think we'll see this one, then? Bare your fangs in the comments section below.
