Here’s how Rockstar describes them:
Author Theodore Levin can’t believe the rumors and missives he’s been receiving from the four corners of the American frontier. He’s working on an anthology of these unexplained and weird phenomena and he needs your help investigating the wildest claims that cross his desk.
The four Telegram Missions are as follows:
- Strange Tales of the Plague
- There are stories of a malady spreading among the people of Armadillo, turning them into shambling undead. It’ll fall on you to retrieve several of these diseased corpses for scientific examination, if you can avoid infection and fend off attacks from a resurgent cell of nearby cultists.
- Strange Tales of Modern Science
- A nearby man of science claims he’s created artificial life that stalks the grounds of Braithwaite Manor, killing those curious or unfortunate enough to stumble upon it. Bring the strange experiment to light by discovering its secrets and destroying any automata that put up a fight.
- Strange Tales of the Bayou
- Something unholy lurks in the swamps of Lagras. Explore at your own risk, be wary of ambushes by Swamp Folk who call those wetlands home, and bring the swamp creature back for Theodore.
- Strange Tales of the Wilderness
- Investigate reports of a missing scientist last seen conducting strange research on a crew of murderers in Tall Trees. When the operation goes sideways, you’ll need to use your survival skills to find weapons, craft items, and hunt for food, all while tracking down the scientist and his captors.

Original Story: Rockstar pretty much pulled the plug on Red Dead Online in 2022, prompting fans to hold an in-game funeral for the multiplayer mode.
The label has continued supporting the title with various in-game events, but it’s ceased creating new content for it in the years since.
But that changes today, as the company has unexpectedly added some new Telegram Missions to the title.
Here’s what it confirmed in a community email to fans:
“Author Theodore Levin needs your help investigating the bizarre and unexplained in Strange Tales of the West – a new set of four eerie Telegram Missions available tomorrow in Red Dead Online. Track down undead plagues, rogue automations, swamp beasts, and more by collecting Mr. Levin’s letter from any Post Office or your Camp’s Lockbox, or by launching Telegram Missions from the Player Menu.”
This is particularly interesting because the missions sound like they have a horror flavour, which is causing some speculation about whether they could potentially be connected to an Undead Nightmare update. It seems like wishful thinking, but you never know.
Of course, the timing of this new content is suspicious to say the least. There have been heavy rumours for weeks now that a Red Dead Redemption 2 port is in production for the PS5, and the sudden addition of fresh missions would certainly support that.
Last month, the game’s original voice cast teased exciting news, which led many to believe an announcement was imminent. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a meet and greet, but there’s still reason to believe this popular title is getting an updated PS5 version.
If it is indeed happening, then hopefully Rockstar makes it official sooner rather than later. In the meantime, if you still happen to play Red Dead Online, then you have some new Telegram Missions to complete.
