After a fairly long wait, Siege has arrived in Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 — and it sounds like a damn good time.

For those out of the loop, this is the game's anticipated horde mode, pitting three Space Marine players (or bots) against waves of heretic scum. It's part of the title's new update, 8.0, which is available to download now on PS5.

As mentioned, Siege has long been the promised crown jewel of Space Marine 2's post-launch support. Developer Saber Interactive has been adding to and adjusting the action shooter since its release back in September of last year, and with the addition of Siege, it really will feel like a robust Warhammer package.

"The battle unfolds within a fortified Imperial stronghold on Kadaku, relentlessly attacked by endless waves of Tyranid and Thousand Sons enemies," read the patch notes.

"The fortress has three rotating sectors: Defensive Positions, the Arsenal, and the Control Room. In each sector, you will face five waves of enemies before your squad advances to the next sector, ultimately cycling back to reinforce earlier positions."

It all sounds incredibly chaotic, but that's usually when the title's at its best in terms of gameplay feel and spectacle. You can read the full update 8.0 patch notes on the game's official forums.
