Horror Hit Phasmophobia Is Being Adapted for the Big Screen 1

Phasmophobia, the ghost-hunting co-op game, is getting a movie adaptation.

Horror specialist Blumhouse, alongside production studio Atomic Monster, is onboard to make a feature film of the creepy multiplayer experience.

Blumhouse is known for films and franchises like M3GAN, Five Nights at Freddy's, The Black Phone, Insidious, and many more. Meanwhile, Atomic Monster has brought us horror flicks like The Conjuring, Malignant, The Nun, The Monkey, and others.

It seems like the right people are behind the project, then, but details on what a Phasmophobia movie looks like are still unknown.

The game has players team up to explore haunted locations, aiming to track down spirits, work out what type of apparition they are, and escape with their lives.

Director of developer Kinetic Games is super excited about the film. "We’re thrilled to officially announce that a Phasmophobia film adaption is in development - it’s a big moment for the whole Kinetic team, and the start of something really exciting," he says.

"We never could’ve imagined the incredible heights this game would reach when it launched five years ago, and we’re so thankful to our amazing community for the lasting impact Phasmophobia has had in the gaming space and beyond. Working with Blumhouse and Atomic Monster marks an incredible new chapter for the game, and we can’t wait to share more as the project develops."

Phasmophobia has been immensely popular, becoming a sensation on PC before launching on consoles last year. According to the press release, the game has sold over 23 million copies.
