Man, remember Alien Hominid? Debuting as a Flash game via Newgrounds in the early noughties, the cartoonish run-and-gunner later came to PS2, and soon it'll be available to play on PS5 and PS4 with Alien Hominid HD.
It arrives on Sony's consoles on 10th June 2025, alongside the much more recent sequel, Alien Hominid Invasion.
If you've never seen it before, the original is a side-scrolling arcade shooter that's sort of like a cross between Metal Slug and Cartoon Network. Playing as a little alien, you blast your way through government agents trying to hunt you down.

Alien Hominid Invasion, initially released in 2023, puts a new spin on the action, turning it into more of a roguelike with open stages and various objectives to meet. You can see footage of both titles in the above trailer.
It's a real hoot to see Alien Hominid once again, and we're pleased to see both games coming to modern PlayStation platforms very soon.
Are you a fan of these games? Will you be playing them when they arrive in June? Tell us in the comment section below.

I remember these games being hard. Now bring back Shank and Shank 2, Charlie Murder and Final Exam 😃
Edit - and the dishwasher
Yes! One of the best-looking games on the PS2 with a fantastic cartoony style, yet harder than heck. If you like Castle Crashers, you’ll like Alien Homonid. They’re both by Behemoth, the same creator/developer. Alien Hominid is only two players (not four like CC), though, if I remember right. Anyway, I gladly welcome it back in a fancy new HD version. (Also, if you enjoy Metal Slug games, check this one out.) 👍
Castle Crashers was another of these funny, past-meme like games. To think, for how old it is, that it had rpg systems in place where, today, many side scrolling beat em ups still entirely lack the option to flavour your character.
@Jrs1 Salt and Sanctuary/ sequel were by the dishwasher team, and they really keep that same dark cartoony aesthetic. Both are also great souls-like-vanias, but the 1st has fantastic local coop support, so I give it big props!
I was super into Flash games as a kid, honestly more than console games for a period of time. This was a classic for a reason and I’m glad we have Flashpoint for archival purposes.
It’s not Cuphead hard but it’s hard. I played these back in the day. Not sure i will play it again. But happy to see it getting a while new audience to make cuss, scream and possibly break controllers.
@J2theEzzo Cool bud didnt know that 👍
Alien Hominid on PS2 is one of my all time faves. So happy to FINALLY see Behemoth back on PlayStation. It always bummed me out we never got Pit People.
I remember playing through this on the GameCube with my brother, good times.
@Quintumply The Behemoth make a habit of this...despite the original game releasing on PS2, like Castle Crashers Remastered The Behemoth would release this on every format bar Playstation & usually like to strike Gamepass deals leaving a PS version a long last.
Though at least it actually is coming, unlike publisher/dev Chucklefish that have seemingly shadowbanned Playstation players. Eastward got released on every format even mobile but never got a Playstation release,& their recently announced Witchbrook again everything bar PS. Seem to recall something about their moaning about Playstation crossplay policies with regards to Wargroove but seems a petty response.
