One of Japan's most popular retailers is rolling out a new rental service for the PS5 console itself — and it's actually quite cheap at just 980 yen (around $7 or £5) for a full week.
The PS5 has sold fairly well in Japan up until this point, but there's no question that the region's home console market has shrunk significantly over the last decade or so. This rental service from Japanese outlet GEO makes a good degree of sense, then, as Sony's system ain't cheap, and people can test the waters without committing to a full purchase.

Perhaps most importantly, though, this service is coming into effect just in time for the release of Monster Hunter Wilds on the 28th February. Capcom's series has always been colossal in Japan regardless of platform, so GEO definitely knows what it's doing.
