Baldur's Gate 3 Larian Studios

Announced back in November, it's easy to forget that Baldur's Gate 3 is getting another massive update sometime in the near future. But even with such impressive support still ongoing, developer Larian Studios is now giving its "full attention" to what comes next.

It seems likely that Patch 8 will be the last major update for Baldur's Gate 3. It's set to include cross-play functionality, a full photo mode, and a brand new subclass for every existing class. Last we heard, it's on track to release soon-ish, with player testing scheduled for this month.

Larian's already gone above and beyond when it comes to support for Baldur's Gate 3, so we can't blame the team for finally moving on. In a statement to VideoGamer, a representative says: "[Larian CEO and Baldur's Gate 3 director] Swen and the team[‘s]… full attention is focused on crafting their next title".

What's more, Larian's opting for a "media blackout" from this point on, until it has news to share.

Again, it shouldn't be long until we hear more about Patch 8 — but beyond that, it sounds like the studio's going all-in on its next game. It'll having to be something ridiculously special to top Baldur's Gate 3, but it's hard not to have confidence in what is clearly such a talented developer.
