Ubisoft is making a brand-new Monopoly game for PS5 and PS4, and you can expect it to pass go at some point in September. Judging from the gameplay footage, this will stay faithful to the traditional board game experience, it’s just adding some genuinely beautiful visuals and animations to mix. Your dice can even accidentally roll into a river, splashing animatedly as they tumble through the water.
The blurb, not that it’s really necessary, reveals: “Monopoly is back with a fresh look and an improved game experience. Buy, sell, trade properties, and grow your empire in this faithful adaptation of the game we all grew up with! Dive into the centre of the board to explore a gorgeous fully animated 3D city.”

I played the Switch version of monopoly before and uhhh, this looks incredibly similar to me? Am I alone in that observation, or is my video resolution deceiving me?

I never trust digital versions of board games because the dice rolls never truly feel random. Somehow somebody that is low on money will ALWAYS land or boardwalk or someone else will ALWAYS wind up going to jail despite the odds. Reminds me of playing Mario Party DS and its "random" rolls.
Why can't they just update the old ones. I bought monopoly on ps4 and PS3 to play with siblings years ago. They won't play anything with me now tho.
I hope the new monopoly allows the player to have independent control until it is their turn. Some more perspective options would be nice, and the ability to disable animations. All in all I hope it works better than plus.
I liked Monopoly Tycoon. That was a really different spin on the game back then. New decades unlocked new shops and your winning goal could be domination or wealthiest player.
