XDefiant PS5 Push Square

Ubisoft's free-to-play shooter XDefiant has gotten off to a better start than many expected it to, and now it appears the French publisher has big plans for supporting it post-launch. According to datamining efforts that have looked into the game's files on PC, there are already plans for many more factions based on Ubisoft characters. Assassin's Creed, Far Cry: New Dawn, Ghost Recon, and Rainbow Six: Siege have all been supposedly discovered.

Furthermore, there are also apparently mentions of all-new factions based on The Crew and the Rabbids games. New game modes are also said to be ready, such as Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag and Infection. Additional weapons in future seasons may include turrets, an RC car, and a Tommy gun.

The game already has multiple factions in the game based on other Ubisoft franchises such as Watch Dogs, The Division, and Splinter Cell. All natural fits for an FPS, it'll be interesting to see how the likes of The Crew and the Rabbids are handled, if the datamine is true.

In our XDefiant PS5 review, we awarded a 7/10 rating and praised its "back-to-basics gameplay". We said: "XDefiant is a solid shooter that will likely scratch that arcade-y itch with its snappy gunplay, iconic map design, and fan-favourite game modes. It’s the perfect multiplayer shooter to chuck on at the weekend, and we suspect it’ll be home to several late-night sessions for old-school Call of Duty fans."
