Released in any year other than 2023, Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader would have been the CRPG to beat; content-rich and masterfully written, it was unfortunately let down by an abundance of bugs and technical issues at launch. We can confirm first-hand that the game is in a much better place on PS5 today, multiple patches later, so we were very excited to see the reveal of Void Shadows, the game's first meaty expansion, launching on 8th August.

Void Shadows will purportedly add another 15 hours of content to the game, largely focused on the Lord Captain's own flagship but fully integrated into the main campaign. Thousands of years old and crewed by unruly clans of indentured servants, the bowels of any Imperial ship would be nightmarish enough, but now it seems a horrific Tyranid Genestealer Cult has taken up residence, and must be expunged.

Aiding the von Valcius dynasty in this is a new companion, Kibellah, a Death Cult Assassin, two new class Archetypes, as well as additional NPC crew members integral to the operation of a voidship. More locations to explore, quests to undertake, equipment to wield, and other upgrades will round things out, adding plenty to keep an enterprising Lord-Captain occupied.

Did you get a chance to check out Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, or did Baldur's Gate 3 suck all the oxygen out of the CRPG space? Suffer not the mutant, the heretic, or the heretic in the comments section below.
