Originally a Nintendo 3DS game, it's fair to assume that the upcoming PS4 port of Monster Hunter Stories is no simple remaster — and the evidence can be found in this new Capcom livestream. Starting at around one hour mark in the above video, the team plays through the opening section of the RPG, and provides what is probably our best look at the updated version. It's also running on a PS5 via backwards compatibility.

As you'd imagine, there are a lot of graphical enhancements here. Characters, monster models, and environmental assets have been tidied up quite a bit, while the draw distance is significantly improved. To be fair, Stories was a good looking 3DS title, and while this port obviously still has drawbacks in terms of visual scope, it's still a fun, colourful game to behold. And yes, it's hitting 60 frames-per-second.

Monster Hunter Stories is launching on the same day — the 14th June — as a port of its sequel, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. However, it's worth noting that the second game was originally a Nintendo Switch title, and so the graphical upgrades aren't quite as prominent.
