NieR: Automata PS4 PlayStation

The always-exciting Yoko Taro, the auteur creator of the NieR series, has reportedly put the president of publisher Square Enix, Takashi Kiryu, on blast during a London concert. Both men were apparently in attendance at a performance of the NieR: Orchestra Concert earlier this month when Taro invited audience goers to clap and cheer as loudly as they could so Kiryu would know how voracious the fans' appetite is for a sequel.

According to a member of the audience (thanks, Eurogamer), the room immediately and predictably "erupted into claps, cheers and yells". Even more intriguing, however, was the reportedly repeated use of the word "REPENT" as "part of some dialogue". During its final usage, the spelling shifted to REP3NT, leading some fans to speculate that it may be significant, even a potential NieR 3 subtitle.

It's a pretty cool story; even if our inner cynic can't help but think it sounds staged, it means NieR is once again in the collective gaming conscience, which can't be a bad thing. It's been seven years since Automata and three since the release of Replicant. What do you think? Do you dare to believe? Let us know in the comments section below.
