According to some under-the-radar reports emerging out of the Unreal Fest in Shanghai, hotly anticipated Genshin Impact-esque gacha game Wuthering Waves will release on PS5 and PS4. The title – which will receive a second closed beta test imminently – has been quietly rebooted behind-the-scenes based on user feedback, with almost 90 per cent of the release’s lore allegedly rewritten since its first beta.
According to a translation of Hong Kong developer Kuro’s presentation, the PS5 version of the game will be on par with the PC edition running on Ultra graphics settings. Meanwhile, the PS4 version will offer visuals a tier or so above the best possible mobile presentation. A big feature of the project is its scalability across a variety of different hardware tiers.

The game itself doesn’t have a release date but does look alarmingly similar to Genshin Impact, with the HoYoverse hit leading to the creation of several copycats. It’ll be interesting to see if it can match the success of the established fantasy role-playing game, but based on the anticipation we’ve seen for it around Asia, it’s surely got a shot at snatching a few players away.

Eh. Its not really like Genshin but I also know thats just what people are gonna compare mobile games to no matter what, so no point arguing it lol.
But that said, im glad to see Kuro Games can branch out. Punishing Gray Raven, their previous title, is mobile/PC only but is an incredible hack n slash game. Also after the first CBT of WW im glad they took all the feedback to heart and rebooted the whole story cause my god, was it terrible lol.
@rawzeku It looks VERY similar to me. Bad writing is a staple of these gacha games! 😂
Cool.word up son
I like the art style a bit better, the characters look more mature. That was always my problem with Genshin. Still not a big fan of ARPGs but I'll keep an eye on this one.
@Shigurui What kuro really needs to do is to release it before Natlan expansion in Genshin and of course ZZZ, not to mention their license is supposed to expire in October 2024. So lets hope that the second beta will be successful and there will be no need to postpone release.
If it doesn't send the Pro's fans into meltdown, then that would be a definite improvement!
@Shigurui
Well now you just turned me off the game, I hate souls like difficulties. I already suck at ARPGs, I don't need them even harder lol
@Shigurui
Alright that sounds reasonable to me. As long as I can get through the story and enjoy exploring the world that's usually enough for me.
@Orgez Unless the second closed beta test (CBT2) goes badly this will almost certainly release before Natlan, which will be Aug 2024 unless they drastically change tempo.
But if CBT2 goes badly they have bigger problems.
