Elden Ring PS5 PS4 PlayStation

The wait for Elden Ring's eagerly anticipated Shadow of the Erdtree expansion has been long enough that we've been forced to question our sanity several times in the year since it was revealed, but we haven't quite gone Hollow yet. Following a trail of breadcrumbs that began with some gaudy custom controllers and spurred on by the addition of files discovered in Steam's backend, Bandai Namco updating its various YouTube playlists is the latest seemingly unconnected event to get us incredibly energised.

Elden Ring content creator Ziostorm continues the great work of the Golden Order, pointing out that Bandai Namco's European and American Elden Ring YouTube playlists have both recently been updated, having been lying dormant for almost a year. This, along with the above, suggests that an English-language announcement trailer could be in the chamber, locked and loaded, and adding further weight to a February reveal or even potential release. The 25th marks the game's second birthday, which may or may not be significant to Bandai Namco, but we're seeing connections everywhere.

How badly do you want to see Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree expansion? Do you subscribe to the February shadow-drop theory, or is that getting too conspiratorial? Connect the dots in the comments section below.
