PS Plus Indie Hit Sea of Stars Surpasses 4 Million Players 1

Sea of Stars, the retro-inspired RPG from Sabotage Studio, has just announced its total player count has reached a new milestone. The hit indie game has now surpassed a total of 4 million players across all platforms.

The game arrived on PS5 and PS4 at the end of August, when it also launched directly into the PS Plus Game Catalogue, accessible to PS Plus Extra and Premium members. We learned in September that the game had sold more than 250,000 copies, so it seems fairly clear that a majority of the game's players are engaging via subscription services.

Either way, Sabotage Studio seems very pleased with the game's success. "Sea of Stars is the game of my dreams, and seeing its quest resonate so strongly with players and critics means the world to everyone at Sabotage," said Thierry Boulanger, co-founder of the Canadian developer. "For fans to have recognized our adventure in such an incredibly prosperous year for RPGs alongside new arrivals from the genre’s biggest franchises … we simply just cannot thank you enough for supporting us, and we can’t wait to show you what’s next for Sea of Stars."

The team is currently developing the first major DLC for Sea of Stars, entitled Throes of the Watchmaker. All that's known about it right now is that it'll further bridge the gap between this game and Sabotage's previous title, The Messenger, which is set in the same universe.
