Modern Warfare 3 May Not Have a PS5 Platinum, But It Does Have Campaign Gyro Aiming

Gyro aiming should be mandatory for every game. They should put this in on system basis. You could turn it off for each game if you want but it should be there.

So if MW3 shows up as DLC for MW2 on PS5, does this mean you'll need to look at MW2 in the PSN store to find future DLC for MW3?

Shame that despite this, its possibly got the worst campaign in COD history.

@Nepp67 I don’t know about that man. This game campaign uses the warzone map for missions and like 4 hours long. It’s like they wrote half a script and forgot to finish it.

If PS5 had mandated gyro aiming support for games that involve... well, aiming, I'd probably already have one. Not even joking.

I know some people are stubborn and insist it's a gimmick, but I'm sure the first typewriters were dismissed as gimmicks as well. Twin stick + adjustable gyro aim is, far and away, the most accurate control method when using a controller.

I'm one of those old people that thinks BLOPS2 was where it peaked. They seem to be trying too hard and getting nowhere. MW2 for example, who's idea was it that to unlock an attachment for a gun, you needed to level up an SMG to unlock an LMG then use that to unlock an assault rifle to unlock a scope for a different gun!

How nice is this a €70 game that is a basically a DLC pack, with monetization and ofcourse a expensive edition plus a launcher on a disc.

And people complain that games are expensive let's be real here gamers deserve to get screwed over. 😆

That'll be because it was originally going to be an expansion for MW2 before the greed merchants at Activision decided to make it a stand-alone game.

You've got good taste. It's nice seeing people being able to expand or open their mind to something beyond a traditional controller. Since when was analog stick cross hair wiggling the 'peak' way to aim? It was fine back in the late 90's & early 2000's, but it was completely destroyed once the Wii Remote & Nunchuck debuted along side titles like Metroid Prime 3. What a revolutionary incredible exprience that was, and that's just one example. Analog stick on the other hand feels like you're controlling some jerky cumbersome tank nozzle, it makes zero sense, and it doesn't allow for 1:1 precision or precise aiming.

Now we have Gyro, tethered Gyro is really good when it's working proplerly. I say working, because there's no reference/sensor bar, so some titles aren't reliable. Perfect examples of greaty gyro aiming would be Quake 1&2 and Power Slave. Also, the joy-con's are an awful replacement for the WIi remote and nunchuck. horrible ergonomics, cheap tiny buttons, and no gyro motion reference.

Still, I vastly prefer the Wii remote and nunchuck to tethered gyro, since it's detached, and simulates the feeling of aiming a gun/weapon, gives you that seemless natural movement and is the closest thing to VR motion based aiming with Quest 3 & PSVR2's VR controllers.

The people who shun motion pointer aiming as a gimmick are beyond closed minded. They must be lazy, uncorridinated and just stuck in their ways. I've never liked it, i always thought of it as a huge restraint or limitation. I put up with analog stick aiming because that's what was all that was available on consoles. I can't tolerate it anymore, actually...I've felt that way ever since the Wii came out. It feels like an archiac extremely dated immersion killing way to play a game.

Yeesh, VR has stereoscopic 3D, the best in class motion controls, life sized characters & environments and can put the player IN the game world. So much room for growth and potential, but i honestly don't see it making a huge splash until Nintendo does it. Mario Kart 9 VR and Pokemon Snap VR would be collosal smash hits, and it's where Metroid Prime 4 desperately needs to go.

@NeonPizza When people hear "motion controls," I think they picture the worst of the Wii/Kinect, with people flailing their hands around. When, in reality, gyro uses your wrists as a more precise extension of your thumbs on the controller, allowing them to work in concert to achieve... not mouse-like precision, but damn close after some familiarity.

With VR, I think you need a big company to make it both accessible price-wise and attractive in terms of software. Nintendo could absolutely do it, although I don't think they've shown a willingness to go that direction so far.

Tethered Gyro feels like a mouse that has been lodged into the centre of the controller, and because you're not resting your hand on a mouse, on a flat surface, Gyro winds up feeling more natural since you're aiming in 3D space. It's a 10/10 for Quake 2(As depressing as that game is) and Power Slave. Works great for Metroid Prime Remaster too(Using Twin Stick+Gyro) but falls flat on it's face, imo, compared to what Metroid Prime 3 did with the Wii remote and nunchuck, which is the closet thing that simulates VR aiming.

I think Nintendo might be holding off until mainstream VR finally adopts 4K per eye(Quest 3 & PS VR2 are limited to 2K), even though 4K per eye(8k total) would be a total power hog, and when wireless VR(Connected wirelessly to a console) bypasses image compression and higher latency. Aesthetic or design wise, they also want VR headsets to transition into goggles or glasses compared to what Quest 3 & Vision Pro are dishing out.

As incredible as PS VR2 can be, most people will be instantly turned off by the fact that it's tethered, the bulky long front visor, Giant rings surrounding the controllers and small sweet spot due to using fresnel lenses instead of pancake.

I truly hope Sony does a VR2 revision for Q1 2025 with a wireless to PS5 connection, pancake lenses, slim front visor, ring-less Controllers, better OLED display and starts VR-ifing' hit franchises. Give us an Astro Bot 2, Resident Evil 2&3 VR, Spider Man 2(3rd person VR), God of War, PSVR Worlds 2, Mega Man VR etc etc. Because the reality is, most gamers don't care for the VR indie budget cess pool that VR currently is.

4K per eye, 120d FOV, Micro-OLED, Glasses or slim goggle-like aesthetic, Wireless to console connection, Pancake Lenses, with a large sweet spot, no god rays, glare or Mura, clear peripheral vision, AR mode, AR 3D TV mode, ring-less controllers with haptics & adaptive triggers, and a handful of Nintendo & 3rd party exclusives would be the VR/AR dream.
