No, it’s not an April Fool’s Day gag: The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog is a free visual novel available to download right now from Steam. The point-and-click adventure takes place on Amy Rose’s birthday, where she hosts a murder mystery for all her friends aboard an exotic cruise liner named the Mirage Express.
“Fans can play as a new character who is starting their first day at work on the Mirage Express,” the blurb explains. “When Sonic becomes the game’s victim, everyone works to solve the mystery behind his murder. As you uncover the truth, while interrogating some of your favourite characters from the Sonic series, you’ll ask yourself if this really is an innocent game, or perhaps, something more sinister.”
SEGA’s obviously having a bit of a fun with this, but reaction to the release has been overwhelmingly positive, and the word is this is genuinely well-executed. Will you be taking a trip aboard the Mirage Express this weekend? Find out whodunnit in the comments section below.

And here we start with the April Fools. Hoping to see some really good ones that maybe get a few really excited and chattering for a bit before coming to the realization.
What might have gotten me for just a moment (Sonic-wise) is if Sonic Spinball (Genesis) was being added to Sonic Origins Plus. The dozen Game Gear games would have got my hopes up too had it been announced today instead of when they were.

The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog sounds like a documentary about the making of Sonic '06.
@get2sammyb the 8bit bayonetta game was also a real game made as an april fools gag. The sonic game trailer makes it seem that it is indeed an April Fools gag
I know this isn't actually Playstation news of any kind, but I'm really glad you reported it
Apparently this is a game made by fans for the fans. If that's the case, then I should expect about 200 OCs, a LOT of rule 34, and Sally Acorn.
I expect I'll be disappointed.

I've added the game to my Steam library but haven't gotten around to playing it, always too busy.
