Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Brings 1 Through 6 to PS4 on 19th April

"For each title you buy before 25th May 2023, you'll also get a PS4 theme and avatar based on the Final Fantasy entry in question"

Gotta say, I love my PS4 themes. It really sucks they ditched those with the PS5.

Anyway, love the QoL additions, the new font looks pretty good (better than the old one, at least), etc.

I'll buy a physical copy if they make it available, I'll pass otherwise. Making the standard edition limited I won't support.

Square is so weird man. They love cannibalizing their RPGs by giving them extremely close release dates (the PS4 versions of this and Live A Live come out essentially a week apart like how last year Valkyrie Elysium, Diofield Chronicles, and Star Ocean all released very close to each other) with little marketing, but would gladly sink hundreds of millions into games like The Avengers or Forspoken. They have actually good games unlike what some people believe, they just always have caveats with their releases.

Damn that's way earlier than I was expecting. On the 19th, with the exception of XI and the XIII trilogy, almost every Final Fantasy will be available on PS5. With June adding XVI. Kinda crazy to think about

Looking forward to this. FF6 is my favorite rpg. It was the first rpg I ever played and have been in love with them every since.

The way Square opened up physical pre-orders abruptly in the middle of the night for the US made me loose alot of respect for them. Sold out immediately. Way to piss off your biggest market

Definite pickup. FF1 was one of my first games. Was about 6 years old, didn't know how to buy equipment, and never got past Garland, but I loved it.

It's really nice to see 1-6 release together. Really need to replay 6 again, it's been too many years since I played it on my PSP.

I'm missing FF III in my PSX collection (because it was never released on PlayStation) so if it have physical copy I'll definitely buy.

That font is real lovely. It’ll be nice to play VI again and I couldn’t tell you the last time I played 2D IV, the 3D version is brutal in comparison.

I doubt it, but wonder if each game will have its own trophy list?

I think these games are overpriced considering how ancient they are... but who am I kidding? I've been looking forward to playing these for a while.

@Meehanuk_1987 FF6 is widely regarded to be the best 2D game in the series to the point that ''best of'' lists often have it back-to-back with FF7.
How much of that is nostalgia I honestly cannot say, but for such an old game it really seems to have remained in peoples' hearts for a long time.

Any idea what the bundle price could be? Even though I preordered 16 for £100 I'm not sure on spending that much on old games

I'm glad they fixed the fonts and added the XP&Gil multipliers. Don't have all the time in the world to grind my way through nostalgia.

Somehow totally missed this news until now, but that sounds like a great idea. I'm looking forward to 4 and 6 in particular. Both great games, but I never finished them

@Meehanuk_1987 I concur with others on FF6, but FF4 & 5 are also great entertaining ones.

It's a confusing history, so buckle up. What happened was FF1 came out in the US in 1990, 3 years after it did in Japan (1987). Between 1987 and 1990, FF2 and 3 were already released in Japan. I would assume for marketing purposes it was "better" seen at the time to just release FF4 as "FF2" in the States in 1991, the same year as in Japan as the SNES came out then. You would think FF5 would then release as FF3 right? Nope, that was skipped over for FF6 as FF3.

It wouldn't be until the PS1 when they released the original FF1 & 2 as FF Origins in the States with new FMV intros. FF4 was bundled with Chrono Trigger as FF Chronicles. FF Anthology had FF5 & 6 in the States while in PAL regions, Anthology has FF4 & FF6. Still leaving FF3 out until the Nintendo DS remake. So technically, this is the very first time the original FF3 will be available physical overseas.

I just wished they still had another batch of PS4 physical copies to sell. I can't help but wonder if these titles down the line will be offered on the "PS+ Premium Classic" tier since most were ported to the PS1 (albeit, after FF7 & 8).

Would have bought it on PS4 if I could have gotten the physical release. Might buy it on Ebay in the future.

I might buy VI at least, it always looked pretty good to me. I'd much rather get an experience close to the original (whether it's grindy or not) so I doubt I'll touch the toggles, but they sound good for folks who are just revisiting.

@Ralizah First Live A Live and now Pixel Remasters getting themes? Man I miss themes so much on PS5. I bought a physical copy of Pixel Remaster for PS4 though so really hope I get those themes and avatars with it or I'll be slightly annoyed

I always meant to finish 5 & 6 on the PS3, so I think I’ll pick this up. Wasn’t a huge fan of 1-4, but I played them on a GBA, so I’d be willing to give them another go at some point

Probably will wait for a sale in a couple months. Will be busy with Horizon and SW Jedi Survivor and in June its FF16, so wont have time for this collection anyway.

Only if I get contacted by Square Enix I'm on the waiting list...

@Flaming_Kaiser I have seen the prices, I should be able to afford it this summer unless the prices goes up a whole lot. This is something I really want in my collection, so I'm ok with paying premium for it. If you want something unaffordable, check out the physical PS4 version of Poop slinger (No, I don't have it, at first I thought it was a scam, now I can't afford it)

VI is my all time favourite. Great characters, story, music, set pieces, and loads of secret things to uncover including characters.

Oh wow... those cheats really make the games more palatable.
With that said, i played all of these already. No real urge to go back.

Will not buy this on principle…I desperately wanted a physical copy but the ***** at Square released preorders in the middle of the night without warning and sold out in an hour! I mean why do that? I expect they will be on eBay for 4x retail price…Why punish me Square when all I ever do is show love and line your pockets?
