Square Enix has announced its Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster, which includes the first six mainline titles, will release for PS4 later this month on 19th April 2023. A new trailer viewable above has been posted to coincide with the news, which shows off just some of the improvements you can expect from these six remasters. The upgrades include toggles that let you change the amount of XP earned and how much Gil you earn, as well as the option to turn random battles off.

On the Nintendo eShop at least, the games cost between $11.99 and $17.99. Digital pricing on the PS Store hasn't been confirmed yet, but you will be able to buy each game individually or get them all as one big bundle. For each title you buy before 25th May 2023, you'll also get a PS4 theme and avatar based on the Final Fantasy entry in question. A physical version of Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster has been up for pre-order over the past few months, but it's sold out now.

To be clear, the games included are Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy III, Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy V, and then Final Fantasy VI. "The first six Final Fantasy games have been updated with beautiful new 2D pixel graphics designed to look great on HD displays, rearranged soundtracks overseen by original composer Nobuo Uematsu and improved gameplay features, including modernised user interface, auto-battle options and more."
