Ghost of Tsushima is not just one of the prettiest games on PS4 – it’s one of the prettiest games ever made! And John Wick director Chad Stahelski, who’s been tasked with bringing Jin Sakai to the big screen, wants to find a way recreate the splendour of Sucker Punch’s sandbox in cinemas around the world.

Speaking to Discussing Film, he shared a little insight into how he’s planning to adapt one of PlayStation’s biggest hits: “Ghost of Tsushima is a really interesting story if you really dive into the tale of Jin Sakai and what the film is really about. And you tie him to these amazing visuals. You can already tell from the John Wick films that I love colour and I love composition. To really try and not only live up to but exceed what the game has done with its visuals is completely fascinating to me.”

He added that he wants to find a way to “push the colour palette”, but pondered: “How can you bring that world to life in a very realistic and grounded way?”

All this talk of colour is interesting, of course, because Ghost of Tsushima also includes a monochrome Kurosawa Mode, which is something Stahelski has also expressed interest in replicating in the past. “It's definitely a conversation,” he said, when quizzed about the possibility of the film being shot in black-and-white.

Ultimately, it sounds to us like Stahelski has a lot of ideas bouncing around his brain, but given his work on the John Wick franchise, we have no doubt he’s going to dream up a visually stunning adaptation of the juggernaut PlayStation game.
