Well, we finally got it: the Final Fantasy XVI release date is here. The 22nd June, 2023 is the date to mark on your calendar, putting it just weeks behind the likes of Street Fighter 6 and Diablo 4. Next summer is officially taking the p*ss.
Anyway, Final Fantasy XVI continues to look like a potential stunner. This new trailer's got more combat, more cutscenes, and even a quick look at party members who'll be joining Clive in his quest for revenge.

2023 is looking packed, so many games, so little money. Nonetheless, this will be a day one purchase to me
Can we get a moment of silence for the FIRST two shots of actual exploration and traversal in this game? I mean the trailer was awesome but I'm still worried its been all about cinematics and explosions. Are we getting Final Fantasy of Devil May Cry? I'm still not sure...
Day 1. Preordered. Man, 2023 is going to be an insane year for PS5… it’s December and my year is halfway planned out already. This looks glorious. As long as DS2 has some time, this is looking like the biggest event in 2023, even with Zelda. Oh thankfully they’re releasing in separate months.
I'm still not sold on the combat. I don't love the grimdark but can deal with it. But the combat...I like dmc, I like Bayonetta...I don't want to do that for 120 hours in an open world with trash mobs. That would get old and blinding fast. I really hope there's more to it than that.

I wish it was June now so I could be playing the game, only 7 more months to go.
This looks so good. I just wish it was turn based! The blend of action and commands in FFVII Remake worked quite well though, so I'd be happy with a similar system.
Still can't believe it. Are we really going to get 3 FF's within a year? This looks really good, i like that we get completely different settings for the next FF's. Day one for sure.
I pray to god that Joshua from this game is not as annoying as Hugo from plague tale, who I just wanted to punch throughout the entire game. I thought I might be the only one but Yahtzee seems to think the same so I'm not that weird!
In every other way this ticks the right boxes for me and looks like it will be a classic FF! Cant wait!
@Titntin man A Plague Tale, I enjoyed the game but those characters do not shut up. I found Amicia even more annoying, probably because you play as her 90% of the time.
On topic if this wasn’t a FF game I’d have no interest in it. The gameplay isn’t for me. I doubt I’ll pick it up.
Sure looks like one slick action game, but a FF title? Not so much... (with the exception of the chocobos)
@WanderingBullet the whole game seems based on the fact that certain regents for each kingdom can each harness/ turn into their own respective summons. Had your head under a log? 😉
@Fenbops From the looks of the trailers so far, it seems that Joshua will kick the bucket earlier in the game

Naoki Yoshida is going to go down in history as one of the best who ever was in this industry. The turnaround he led on FFXIV was remarkable - and now SE has given him the reins on this. This man can deliver under pressure - I cannot wait for this.
