Airship Syndicate has an interesting slate of games under its belt, and they're all pretty dang good. Battle Chasers: Nightwar, Darksiders Genesis, and Ruined King: A League of Legends Story were all warmly received. Now, the studio is back with an original IP, this time delving into the world of free-to-play. Wayfinder is its name, and it's an online action RPG.

The setup is fairly typical stuff: the world of Evenor has been struck by The Gloom, but Wayfinders have found a way to weaponise the stuff. You and your friends can play in co-op to fight back in dungeon-crawler style missions. Each Wayfinder has their own story, play style, and abilities to discover.

What's most interesting is that, using your Gloom Dagger, you can customise your experience by implementing mutators of your choosing. These allow you to have some control over what you encounter, including enemies found, what items drop, and so on. However, the Gloom will modify things further to combat you, leading to "endless" possibilities.

Interestingly, the game is being published by Warframe studio Digital Extremes, which will presumably bring its own free-to-play expertise to the project. Wayfinder will initially launch in early access on PS5 and PS4 in early 2023, with the proper release aiming for Fall.
