The PS4 version of Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana has returned to PS Plus Extra after it disappeared from the service this past weekend. Following an investigation by publisher NIS America, it found "some issues on the backend" that have now been fixed. Unfortunately, the company wasn't able to explain what those problems were in more detail, but "the game has been restored and is once again available on PS Plus," it told Push Square.
Checking on both the PS Store and Sony's online webpages, Ys VIII has indeed been reinstated as a PS Plus Extra title. It's welcome news for JRPG fans, with the title now playable again alongside its sequel Ys IX: Monstrum Nox. Due to its sudden removal, it was feared PS5, PS4 games could be pulled off the service without even listing an expiry date. This doesn't appear to be the case, however.

Still believe they should offer a ps5 version upgrade for free just like with the Witcher 3, Borderlands 3 and many other games, Just greed from falcom.

It just happens to disappear from extra right around the time when the cash grab PS5 update is released..... come on. This was a greed driven choice.
we already saw sony/naughty dog do it with Uncharted 4; deleting the old version on that you had to buy the new or buy a bundle. Just like that this was likely intentional, then it got backlash so they backtracked on it... Period.
Technical glitches. Happen all the time, but they make your company look incompetent.
I don’t even slightly believe the back end issue excuse, more like hoped to get away with it but got caught.

I'm surprised people aren't buying the back end explanation. It makes sense to me. It's not exactly a secret that the PSN is a bit of a mess behind the scenes. Besides it's back now right? No harm no foul.

The ps5 Ys 8 listing just absorbed its ps4 twin, it happens some times. The ps4 version also went missing from the ps5 native PlayStation store and still is for me but it’s available in the PlayStation app. So definitely a backend problem and not some grand conspiracy like plumbers tape.
Ok so am I crazy or is this actually still not back? On PS+ right now and only Monstrum Nox is listed.

@KundaliniRising333 It didn't disappear for me or for other people I've seen commenting. I already had it downloaded but if it was removed from Plus normally it'd stop being available regardless. It does seem like an actual error since it was still playable, just not apparently appearing on the store as a free game.
Yes, I saw it had returned on the PS+ list. But it doesn't change that there is still a problem here. Just give us the dates games leave the service. It shouldn't be this hard.
On Sony's part they could have almost entirely avoided all the bad PR if we knew the date upfront. Enough gamers would have known this was an error.
Sony continue to shoot themselves in the foot.

@Matroska Me too. I was playing the game sunday night, and nothing happened. If it was a full on removal, the game would stop. Tested monday morning, booted normal.
Some people are too eager to spread negativity about everything.

The game is still not working for me. Every time I try to get back into it it says "can't play because your playstation plus subscription needs to be upgraded". I have premuim tier so that is wrong. Any suggestions? Also I have tried restarting the console that did nothing.
