Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 PS5 PS4

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 generated nearly $1 billion in its opening weekend on the market, setting a new record for the FPS series. Therefore, it was only ever going to claim one spot in the monthly PS Store sales charts: first place. The latest shooter from Infinity Ward was the best-selling PS5 game in both the USA and Europe. It could almost say the same on PS4; FIFA 23 just beat it for the month of October in Europe.

Modern Warfare 2 will likely stay in the list of the top 20 best-selling digital games on the PS Store for some time now, just like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Vanguard before it. And with rumours there won't be a new Call of Duty title next year as Infinity Ward readies another year of post-launch content, this could be the main Activision product for some time now.

Other new releases for last month include Gotham Knights, which was the second best-selling PS5 game in the USA and the third in Europe. A Plague Tale: Requiem was the seventh most-bought digital PS5 title in Europe, but only the tenth in the USA. Star Ocean: The Divine Force also crops up in 13th in the USA.

Overwatch 2 also launched last month, and it topped the free-to-play list across the USA and Europe, beating out Fortnite and The Sims 4 as it dropped its price tag. Best-selling PSVR games included the usual Job Simulator, Beat Saber, and Superhot VR. Did you buy many of these games? Let us know in the comments below and prepare for God of War Ragnarok to take first place next month.
