PlayStation Productions is in full swing, with several projects underway. One of them is a movie based on Sony's long-running Gran Turismo series. It seems an odd choice for the big screen, but it's happening nonetheless, and it's attracting some notable talent.

Namely, the Gran Turismo film now has its first star, with David Harbour signed on to play a part. The actor is best known for his role as Jim Hopper in Stranger Things, but also appears in Quantum of Solace, Revolutionary Road, and more recently, Black Widow. His character in the movie will be that of a retired race car driver who teaches the main protagonist to drive.

To recap, Gran Turismo is a based-on-true-events tale about a young GT player who competed in professional in-game championships to eventually qualify to compete in real life races. It seems Harbour will play a mentor-style role. He's currently the only actor attached, though we do know Neill Blomkamp is onboard to direct the flick. It's on track for release in cinemas next August.
