Tokyo Game Show is in full swing right now, and part of the festivities is the Japan Game Awards. All the winners have been announced, and among them is Sony's first-party open world epic, Horizon Forbidden West.

Aloy's sophomore outing is one of several titles to earn the Award for Excellence:

Other winners in this category are Resident Evil Village, Ghostwire: Tokyo, Tales of Arise, and Elden Ring. The latter of these also takes home the Game of the Year grand prize. Indie hit Inscryption takes home an award for game design. In case you're wondering, the window for eligibility in Japan Game Awards is 1st April 2021 to 31st March 2022.

While most of the games recognised are Japanese, it's nice to see Horizon getting a nod. It's one of our favourites this year so far, too. What do you think? Is Horizon Forbidden West worthy of its Excellence award? Polish your trophies in the comments section below.
