It's been a little while since we checked in with Atomic Heart, the eerie sci-fi shooter from developer Mundfish. Earlier this year, the game was pencilled in for release in late 2022, but no release date is mentioned at all in this latest trailer, which focuses on combat.

The game is looking absolutely bananas in the best way. Set against an alternate reality Soviet Union in which technology has taken major advances, the idyllic world led by science and robotics has of course gone wrong. Behind closed doors, disturbing experiments are the cause of all kinds of mutants and machines out to get you, and it's your job to get to the bottom of everything.

The combat looks to be taking its cues from the likes of BioShock, with a mixture of firearms and elemental powers. It looks frantic, violent, and scary, again recalling memories of fighting Rapture's nasties. There are some pretty awesome enemy designs shown off — those big robots are pretty intimidating.

Hopefully the game isn't too far away, as it seems to be shaping up nicely. Are you excited for Atomic Heart on PS5 and PS4? Tell us in the comments section below.
