Sabotage Studio, the team behind the upcoming RPG Sea of Stars, has announced it's in development for PS5 and PS4. Arriving sometime next year, the game is a retro-inspired, turn-based RPG with old-school flavour and some modern touches to smooth things out.

In addition to the above new trailer, a detailed breakdown of the game is up on the PS Blog. Some key things to take away: this is purely turn-based with no ATB-style time bars to manage; there are no random encounters and thus no need for grinding; and there are six playable characters who specialise in different areas.

Combat also incorporates timed hits, essentially meaning you'll deal more damage if you time your strike properly. Oh, and you can hotswap any party member into a battle at any time, so you don't need to sweat who to bring into combat, which is nice.

It's all shaping up pretty well from where we're sitting, and with contributions to the soundtrack from Yasunori Mitsuda of Chrono Cross and Trigger fame, this will definitely appeal to a certain group. Are you interested in Sea of Stars? Let us know in the comments section below.
