LeBron James, Rick & Morty Join the Fight in MultiVersus on PS5, PS4

A MultiVersus panel at SDCC just happened, and while there was plenty to draw from the showcase, there's only one bit of news fans are really after. Fortunately, developer Player First Games has delivered, revealing not one, not two, but three new fighters for its free-to-play brawler.

Joining the eclectic roster are basketball legend LeBron James (who starred in Space Jam: A New Legacy last year) and dimension-hopping duo Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith, of Rick and Morty fame, obviously.

The former fighter can be seen in the above reveal trailer, which confirms he'll be joining in time for the MultiVersus open beta, which kicks off from 26th July. Meanwhile, both Rick and Morty will be added a little later, when the game reaches Season 1. We don't know precisely when that will be just yet.

LeBron is a Bruiser class character who makes use of his basketball as a projectile to whack opponents from afar. Honestly, he looks like he'll be really fun to play — we'll be putting him through his paces when he slam dunks the game next week.

I suppose Lebron fits in as Space Game is basically the WB universe. However I dont know anyone who liked the film XD i mean they didnt go to Space and the Jams sucked compared to the original

I'm enjoying the game but gold rewards need to be boosted because winning a 2 out of 3 match gets you just over 100 gold. And when fighters cost around 2000 to 3000 gold it's a lot of grinding to get everyone of the (for now) 15 character roster.

The fact that LeBron is fairly realistic compared to the other characters makes this even funnier to me

LeBron officially owned by Warner Bros. That MeatCanyon video was more accurate than I thought... Honestly though, seeing him run around dunking foo's — it's just so stupid, how can I not love it?

This is game is getting characters pretty quick. I mean even when they reach 100, they'll still be must ones. So crazy what wb owns. Much much more than Disney

@Uncharted2007 That’s a fairly large label to apply to somebody. I don’t exactly keep up to date with LeBron but I haven’t heard him be called racist before.

I remember there being a 'leak' with 20 - 30 Characters revealed, and LeBron James, Rick & Morty were mentioned in that leak, doesn't make the leak true, but does give it some plausibility, and given how many IP's WB has, I've no doubt they're gonna want to continue adding more iconic characters to the roster to keep players coming back, from Lord of the Rings, to Wizard of Oz, to Matrix, to Cartoon Network, to more DC & Looney Tunes reps, and so on and so forth.

@Danloaded - I enjoyed watching Space Jam 2, it's certainly not a good movie, and it's certainly not as good as the first Space Jam, but a fun watch nonetheless, beside there are certainly worse movies to watch than Space Jam 2.
