Cartel Tycoon is described as a "survival business sim", a strategy game in which you must grow, expand, and ultimately reign over your very own narco empire. Leaving early access on PC later this month, Cartel Tycoon is coming to PS4 in 2023, and we got an admittedly hokey live-action trailer (that eventually leads to gameplay) to celebrate.

Set in a fictional version of Latin America in the '80s, you play an aspiring cartel leader during the boom years of the cocaine trade. You begin with a humble farming operation, which you must expand into a logistical system for distribution, all the while defending your product from rival cartels and the authorities.

Bribe corrupt politicians, assassinate your rivals, and try to maintain the loyalties of your mercurial lieutenants on the path to building a true narco-state.

Cartel Tycoon is just the latest in a long line of deep strategy games coming to console, like Crusader Kings 3 and Civilization VI and we are absolutely here for it.

Here's hoping that developer Moon Moose can stick the landing with the transition to a controller, as that is often the deciding factor in how strategy games are received on console.
