The Hunter: Call of the Wild is widely regarded as one of the most relaxing games you can find on console. Ignore the, y’know, hunting aspect, and it’s a gorgeous sandbox you can spend hours hiking through. Fishing seems like the perfect fit for a spiritual successor, then, and here it is in all its glory – Call of the Wild: The Angler.

Technically, this isn’t confirmed for consoles just yet, but developer Expansive Worlds says they will follow the main PC release. The game looks seriously chill in the trailer embedded above, however – you head out into the wilderness with your trusty fishing rod by your side, and see what you can catch. “Ride the open waters and explore a vast, atmospheric environment in search of the perfect fishing spot.”

According to the press release, you’ll be able to play solo, or in online co-op with support for up to 12 players. If you’ll pardon the pun, we can definitely see this catching on; obviously the hunting aspect of the previous release was never going to appeal to everyone, whereas fishing is generally less controversial overall. We’ll keep you updated with regards to a potential PlayStation release date.
