EA Sports has just announced F1 22, the latest officially licensed Formula One racer from Codemasters. Launching on 1st July, 2022, this new title will reflect the big changes to the motorsport for this season, touted as the "biggest shake-up for over a decade." You can check out the teaser trailer above.

The big headline change for F1 this season is the newly designed car which, in a nutshell, has been reworked in order to make races more exciting and more competitive. These vehicles will naturally be represented in-game along with all the drivers and teams you'd expect. According to the press release, there's plenty more for fans to get excited about: the introduction of the Miami grand prix, Sprint races, and something called F1 Life.

This new mode aims to capture the lavish lifestyle of the motorsport's most successful drivers. It acts as "a customisable hub to show off their collection of supercars, clothing, and accessories" which you can earn through gameplay or via the Podium Pass and in-game store. To what end you'll acquire all these goodies, we're not sure yet.

The physics model has been adjusted to account for the new cars, and there are new options during set-up for races to make the game more accessible. Immersive and Broadcast are new options that either let you take part in things like formation laps, safety car periods, and pit stops, or can take care of those aspects for you, depending on how intense you want the experience.

One interesting note is that, on PC, the game will support various virtual reality headsets, but there's no mention of PlayStation VR at all. We imagine the hold PSVR is a little outdated for this game now, but we can't help but wonder if the PS5 version will be playable on PSVR 2 in the future.

Anyway, there you have it — your yearly F1 title. Will you be putting your foot down this July? Speed into the comments section below.
