Valkyrie Elysium Revives the RPG Series on PS5, PS4 in 2022

I didn't realise it was an existing series, but it looks interesting. I'll keep an eye on it.

Interesting that it is action-RPG. When SE trademarked Valkyrie Elysium, I thought they'd go back to something more tradional turn-based RPG. Still looks great and will be keeping my eyes out on this. Also happy that it is still coming out on PS4.

This looks a bit bland in the gameplay department. Does anyone here have experience with the series that could vouch for its quality?

The first two were great but were unique because they were action RPGs combined with side-scrolling aesthetic. It saddens me they abandoned the side-scrolling aspect.

Looks decent, but is running with both arms back a thing now? Seem to remember seeing that in a video from Shin Megami Tensei V, which I didn't play. Looks a bit goofy IMO.

@Shstrick never played the first game, but the 2nd one on ps2 was brilliant, it mixed 2d side scrolling gameplay with 3d battles, and it had a good story too, I'm hoping this new one will be good too.

yea, this game has nothing to do with the first two entires in the series. this looks entirely action based, whereas the first two entries were turn based and had very unique battle emchanics. this is s-e yet again ignoring what made its legacy games special. i would compare this sequel to what valkyria revolution was to valkyria chronicles... i.e. a game that lost its way and did not appeal to fans of the original. elysium is looking like another dud for s-e... wow, when will they stop the bleeding.

This was a surprise. Never expected them to make another one.

I am looking forward to go back to this franchise.
It has been since the ps2 era and remember it being really hard, difficulty wise.

Is this a Sequel or a Spin off I hope anyone here can answer me. I know I can just browse it online but im too busy this time.

@MisterXpoSay a spinoff featuring the same character from the original game? i say spinoff because this looks to be entirely action-based whereas the original game was turn-based with an extensive leveling system.

Another Square Enix game, another title that looks like it's made of store bought assets.

Has SE forgotten how to composite art objects? Even mainline FF games look like this these days, ever since FFXIII.

I will take what I can when it comes to Valkyrie Profile Series. Reserving judgement for actual game, because trailer looks alpha stage.

Im a fan of the series but......ewe........they seemed to have gotten rid off everything that made it unique.

I can deal with the change in perspective (despite being generic looking now)
But the change in combat is disappointing.......Im hoping they are holding surprises back

We have had a number of titles (super neptunia/that one made by some people from the skillgirls team)
that try to emulate VP battle system.
Every one has ended up being a pale imitation that lacks the nuances of the VP battle system.

Ill still pick the title up but Im not expecting much off it based on the trailer

CLOSE. but not quite the Valkyrie profile game i was hoping for at first glance. Dam. looks cool tho. still want that sacrafice party member for ultimate power mechanic back and or turnbased pls lol. loved that. My fav was the DS game.
