Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut was the best-selling game on the PlayStation Store across Europe last month, and was only beaten to first place in the US by Madden NFL 22. Sony shared the news on the PlayStation Blog, and what makes the stats even more impressive is that the chart doesn't take into account PS4 to PS5 upgrades. The expanded open world title topped the list in the EU and came second in the US based purely on full-price purchases.
On PS5, Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut was one of Sony's £70/$70 titles, meaning those interested shifted top dollar in order to access the full package and thus push the Sucker Punch Productions title to the top of the list. The rest of the list is made up of quite a few new releases, such as Hades in third across the US and second in Europe, and Aliens: Fireteam Elite claiming fourth in both regions. Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales was fifth in the US and seventh in Europe, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was 14th across the EU (didn't chart in the US), and Demon's Souls is 18th in both territories. The likes of Returnal and Sackboy: A Big Adventure are nowhere to be seen.
On PS4, Madden NFL 22 once again topped the chart in the US. However, Grand Theft Auto V was the best-selling digital title in Europe while it took second across America. Because of course it did. The top five for both territories also features Minecraft, Fall Guys, and Far Cry 5. It was business as usual for PSVR users as Beat Saber took first place in both territorial charts for August while Splitgate was once again the most popular free-to-play title.
Did you buy Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut at full price on PS5 like so many others? Or did you take advantage of the paid PS4 to PS5 upgrade? Let us know in the comments below.

I did the upgrade. Loved the Iki Island expansion. Sadly though when I transferred my data, my single player data transferred just fine but my Legends data didn't transfer correctly for some reason. I wasn't too annoyed with it as I hadn't made that much progress on my characters but it would have been better than starting from scratch.
Either way I still got my money's worth out of the Iki expansion alone so I'm happy.
@Korgon Upgrade in PS4 version or did you the upgrade to the Ps5 Version?
Went for the upgrade to PS5 and dlc Iki island.
Playing through it now.
Upgraded from the PS4 to the PS5 version. Was happy to pay the extra because I love the game. The changes really do make a difference when playing. Only issue I had when transferring my save game data was that I had started a new game + beforehand and the trophy for Baku the voiceless didn't transfer. But all the trophies for the normal play through plopped for the PS5 version. Iki island is great, though I've not completed it yet as I'm trying to stretch it out.
I’ll buy it this weekend as I missed the original issue. Or maybe I’ll start buying a new copy GTAV every week.
Buying the expansion only served to remind me how boring I find it 🥱 give me new games …
@Reeneman
From PS4 version to the PS5 version.
It's about what I expected. Apparently people just have more money to burn nowadays or something.
Legit first time playing this game and LOVING IT. Honestly it's amazing.
Best game on PS5.
GoT is pretty amazing so no surprise to see it doing so well, was a bit surprised to see Aliens Fireteam doing so well, glad too, it's a work in progress but good fun and has a lot of potential with future DLC.
After playing like 15 hours of this game for the first time..... Im seriously in love. This is the first game to ever make me feel like im Kenshin. I just imagine if sucker punch got the star wars license.... My goodness what they could do.
