Hyung-Tae Kim, the boss of Shift Up – the Korean developer behind PlayStation 5 console exclusive Project EVE – celebrated the game’s successful PlayStation Showcase trailer by ordering his entire team a next-gen console. All 260 employees at the studio received a spangly new Sony system, so that they’ll be able to play the title at home when it releases next year.
Obviously, with PS5 stock so scarce, gaffer Hyung-Tae Kim will have had to pull a few strings to secure the units – but seeing as his team’s title was just featured during a major presentation, he probably had the contacts to make it happen. It’s a really nice gesture from the CEO, and we imagine it’ll give the company a lift as it reaches the finish-line on the release, ahead of its launch next year.

Nice move, but taking pics and showing them globally is a kick in the teeth to the people who still cant get a PS5.
260? I hope that isn't killing the budget for it.
Ok... that's pretty awesome. Kudos to this CEO. Makes me actually more apt to buy a game when I hear the dev team is treated well.
We sometimes get a packet of chocolate biscuits or 2 finger Kitkats, to share.
@Nepp67 $130k assuming each was the $500 retail and assuming their country has similar pricing.
I have no doubt he worked something out with Sony itself to snag these 260 consoles...I mean, if it takes a single person the adventure of a lifetime to get just one (or just a stroke of luck like me), how could he possibly score 260 unless he "fought fire with fire" and used bots?
tbh this was my favourite reveal of the show. the team deserve this.
Wow that’s actually awesome.
Yeah, so? One time my boss let me leave work 5 minutes early.
@Telekill Yeah, that's.... a lot. Hopefully they're getting a lot of support from Sony out of this.
@rykkchii This must really hurt the one's who have been looking for a ps5 since the UK launch, and still can't get one.
Good for them. I hope they are proud of what they showed I know I was very impressed with what I saw.
My boss gifted me a pen once
The Genshin Impact Devs got PS5s and RTX 3080s after the Game was a huge success so where there is money, theres a way lol
They're just empty boxes with an I.O.U note inside.
@Nepp67 @Telekill @Nepp67 that sounds like a lot of money, but I'd guess that
a) as a company they won't be paying tax on these, which is a considerable saving
b) they'll be getting some sort of bulk discount and buying these direct from Sony (the stores that sell them won't be paying $500, there's a profit margin)
And so even if it still costs them $70-80k which seems like a reasonable estimate given the above two savings,
c) once you consider overheads (software licenses, hardware, taxes, insurance, pensions and benefits) that's probably less than a year of paying for one extra developer.
Companies can generally afford pretty large capital expenditures, it's the operating costs that tend to make for trouble.
Very nice.
I'll be playing it when it launches also. The trailler looked great.
One of my most anticipated game, it's like a mix of bayonetta 2 and nier automata gameplay with ps5 quality graphics
I don't think this game is a PS5 exclusive, when it was first announced back in 2019 it said Xbox and PC too.
I suppose could you imagine creating a game which we all know is a massive undertaking these days then going home and not have the hardware to play it / show your mates? Could be the first time your names in those credits after years of hard work !
Smart move from the boss. Positive PR, and boosting morale.
What he didn't buy them a game as well, what a bloody cheapskate 😁😁. In all seriousness though fair play to him imagine walking into work to be gifted a new console legend. Will show this to my boss tomorrow and shame him lol
Its all bout her ass tits I mean assets.
@Daleaf ermmm, good luck with that mate...
'News at 11: Junior worker Daleaf fired from his job at the local tuna canning plant after challenging his boss to buy him a PlayStation 5! Details, after the break...'
A pretty based boss if I do say so myself xD
@Turismo4GT Haha yea that's probably true but you can try lol. Also even though I would love to be called a junior worker again it's far from the truth, although mentally maybe haha.
I like the look of this game. Monsters that look like a mix of eldritch horrors and kitchen appliances, and a MC who looks like she stepped right out of Black Desert Online.
Very cool indeed. Just don't scalp them please.
@rykkchii Maybe you could be happy for them instead of jealously looking at them? What's really a kick in the teeth, is developing for a console you can't even get your hands on.
@Jaz007 I've had a PS5 since launch day, thank you. I wasn't being jealous at all!
@Snake_V5 Yes it was suppose to be PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Now it doesn't even mention the last gen consoles. Xbox might not see a release. It's definitely coming to PC though.
Tbh, I just want this game for the protagonist 😏
@Icey664 🤤
So how did he come across them?
im salty , all those ps5's wasted for people who probably barely play video games because they spend so much time making them instead all day . those ps5s are gonna be like furniture , and played twice a month.
@Futureshark Living the dream.
And all I ever get are a few biscuits lol
Anyone in the UK still needing a PS5 game.co.uk put on their Twitter this evening that they are putting up a load of PS5 console bundles tomorrow morning. Thought I would post should anyone still be looking for one and can stand no sleep F5 ing all morning.
Imagine if they were empty boxes
Nice. Happy employees means a better product. Also didn’t know the game was releasing next year. Yippee
Shift up boss: no one mentions crunch, and you get a ps5? Deal?
Hopefully this means all of the employees are still being treated fairly.
Nice gift. But ps5 is still almost impossible to get youre hands on. (for the normal price) wonder how he can buy al those ps5, s
@rykkchii I mean these guys are people like you and me. They deserve a PS5 like any of us and I don't see the problem with sharing the gesture. Imagine not being able to get a PS5 and then your boss gets you one. This is a great news story.
