Rather good 3D platformer Pumpkin Jack released on PlayStation 4 earlier this year, and now it's jumping to PlayStation 5 as Pumpkin Jack: New-Gen Edition. The next-gen version will arrive just in time for Halloween, launching on the 27th October. And, if you already own the game on PS4, you'll be able to upgrade to the PS5 version for free, and vice versa.
If you're sitting there wondering what Pumpkin Jack even is, allow us to give you a brief overview. Basically, it's a throwback to more traditional 3D adventure-platforming games, combining tricky jumps with simple but engaging combat. It was quite well received back when it first released, and it quickly became a bit of a surprise hit with platforming fans.
"On PS5 Pumpkin Jack New-Gen Edition has a Performance Mode that targets up to 4K resolution at 60fps. A Quality Mode is also available that targets up to 4K resolution at 30fps, adding higher quality effects and shadows with Ray-Tracing," reads the press release.

Oh cool... I wanted to play this last year but kinda forgot!
Maybe ill check it out. I do miss Jersey Devil. Even if they remaster Jersey Devil, it wont be the sameā¦
Interestingly enough i never saw this on the playstation store, was it not released on it?
It's also not on there now?
They should have offered this game as part of the plus games for October.
@KundaliniRising333 You have to search for it, the developer is one person I think, certainly they don't have the funds to pay Sony to promote the game everywhere on the store.
@SamMR - @KundaliniRising333 seems to be right, it's not showing up in search results on my app
@SamMR I searched several times and haven't come up with anything. Strange.
You nothing on the UK store yet. Guess we will have to wait until launch day
Glad I waited for that one! Ray tracing, here I come!
I'll definitely play that on Halloween. Probably as close to a new Maximo as we'll ever get.
I'll check this out around Halloween 2022 if I can remember to.
@KundaliniRising333 @SamMR I found a thread about this elsewhere. Apparently the game is on the PSN store but for some reason can only be found and purchased on the PS4 console and not on PS5/web strore/app. The publisher is aware of this and looking into it (the thread was ~2 weeks old).
@Voltan oh how weird. Ok cool thanks.
Does that mean if I signed into my old PS4 and bought it I couldn't actually go and download it onto my PS5 because it's not available on there to download I'd have to somehow transfer it with a hard drive or something?
@KundaliniRising333 I think once it's in your library you should be able to download on the PS5, it's just not possible to find it on the store. Don't take my word for it though, the thread didn't mention that case specifically.
oh yeah you are right it sits in the library regardless. Cool im going to try it, thanks for checking.
@Voltan Ok confirmed i was able to get it on my ps5, by purchasing through ps4. Thanks again
@KundaliniRising333 Awesome. Unfortunately I don't have a PS4 anymore but I'd be waiting for the PS5 version anyway
