Ubisoft really wants you to know all about Far Cry 6. Yesterday, the publisher released a new video about the upcoming game, and it provides an overview of the gameplay as well as the scenario and setting.
Stop us if this all sounds familiar, but this new trailer explains that the sequel takes place in Yara, a fictional island that's on the brink of revolution, and it's led by a passionate but violent dictator named Antón Castillo. You play as either a male or female version of Dani Rojas, a character who gets caught up in the fight for Yara as they're trying to get away from all the turmoil. You'll fight your way across the island using all kinds of weapons and vehicles, employing guerrilla tactics and using anything at your disposal to deck out your guns and give yourself the edge.
We've no doubt there's lots of fun to be had in Far Cry 6 — it does look like it contains the series' usual brand of chaos — but we really hope it can differentiate itself enough from past entries. The game is just a few weeks away now. Are you excited for it? Has this new video convinced you to give it a shot? Tell us in the comments section below.

I was really keen on getting this but I hated 5 and seems like this is more of the same. Going to get Deathloop instead.
Far cry 5.2 you mean
Skillup reviewed it and came to the conclusion that it's just more of the same. I think it'll be fun to play but only at bargain bin price for me. I did like FC5 especially with a mate, the guerilla theme and wacky weapons of 6 don't appeal to me though.
There's too many icons on the map if you ask me... I think it is fine for shorter games like Tomb Raider. I will play this eventually but I less collectables with better creativity would be awesome. I mean Valhalla had some awesome creatively-located collectables as well. It's just most were dull. Same with Far Cry games.
I was excited until I saw the preview videos, it looks more like a dlc expansion than a new game, everything looks too familiar and samey to the point that calling it an asset flip wouldn't be unfair. As for the animal companions, its getting a bit daft, yeah the dogs cute, but it looks like they're trying too hard now. The whole game seems like a 1st person Just cause and less like farcry 2 or 3 that were the series high point in my opinion
They will never achieve what Far cry 3 achieved. They may as well stop trying and just let the series rest.
Too similar to what came before it, and so large it would eat up my life if I started to invest time in this. Oh, and I've just recently got my hands on the ps5 and to be fair, I don't think the character models in this video is doing it any favours ...
In spite of all the negative comments that I am hearing, I for one am anxious to dive into Far Cry 6. Sign me up!
I have played every Far Cry game since the first one and they all were fun in their own way.
Particular favorites:
Far Cry 3
Far Cry Primal
Far Cry 5
I’m a fan of the series, but essentially it’s just more of the same. Seems little difference between 3, 4 and 5. Just a different lunatic in charge and a different island. I’ll play it but down the line when it’s cheap.
@UltimateOtaku91 I think by that rule we're still in the Far Cry 3.X range. That didn't bother me with Far Cry 4, it was a great example of how more of the same is sometimes great. Far Cry 5 however really grated on me, even though I could still enjoy much of the gameplay.
I'll wait till Black Friday to get it for $30 because like all Ubisoft games, and Bandai Namco Games(Tales of Arise) they always go on sale for almost half off then. Also after about 2 months or so.
I wasn’t going to get this, love the Far Cry series, but there is so little coming out (that I want)that I have ordered it 🤭
Please tell me when GT7 is coming out tonight!
@Svark
I feel like Primal doesn't get enough love to be fair, I tought it was brilliant, nice setting nothing crazy well little bit towards the end still brilliant game
Nice. The world looks amazing!. This is my next game after Tales of Arise.
If have a PC. Ubi giving FC3 for Free until the 11th

@JapaneseSonic I fkn dislike mute protagonists too. The games industry needs to have a sit down and discuss this and collectively agree that NO MORE MUTE PROTAGS ffs!
Looking like a blend of FC3 and Just Cause, a choice to play as male or female, an awesome looking map, and a cute little doggie with wheels for hind legs. Also a friendly gator that helps the good guys. Sold !!! Well sold if the post release technical reviews on PS4 PRO are good.
Dani Rojas! Football is life!
@Spoonman-2 I will end up getting it too. Don’t care about the game’s inhabitants Far Cry is all about getting lost in the wild
This will probably be the best thing I see this Thursday evening.
@Daveuppercut I'm playing through Far Cry 5 now (thanks to the GoldenEye recreated maps going back up) and have to say I'm surprised at how much I'm enjoying it. It is a similar formula, but it's been long enough since I played 3 all those years ago (skipped 4) and it's fun to explore the map a decent amount and do most of the tasks. I think the Supersampling makes it look a little better on my 1080p game mode TV, too. The dog companion is really cool, unlocked him instantly but what really annoys me is the fact they didn't ever patch in that he can ride in the back of your truck or such.
@QBGaming12 Same here, Ubisoft games tend to drop down in price FAST.
