Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut is just two days away from its launch on PlayStation 5 and PS4, so it's now time for a flashy launch trailer to remind you what this expanded re-release is all about. Of course, the new Iki island expansion is the centrepiece of the Director's Cut, adding a brand new location to explore just off the coast that contains a new story and enemies. Pre-orders are available now on the PS Store, but if you want to upgrade to the PS5 version, you'll have to wait for the actual release day to roll around before the option becomes available.
The launch trailer itself is only 60 seconds long, but it houses glimpses of the new area, touches on the pre-existing free Legends multiplayer expansion, and provides a quick rundown of what the Director's Cut has to offer. That includes PS5-specific features such as haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and Japanese lip sync. If you'd like to learn even more, be sure to check out our recent interview with developer Sucker Punch Productions.
Will you be playing Ghost of Tsushima for the first time with this Director's Cut, or maybe you're planning a replay? Either way, let us know in the comments below.

Stoked for this, as I've never played it and look forward to the complete experience, but I'd really like to play it on a PS5. Should I wait or just play it on the Pro?
I got back my copy of the original game (a friend of mine was hogging it since last year) - looking forward to upgrading and debating whether or not I should play the whole thing again on PS5...
I also never touched the Legends mode, because it wasn't out yet when I played.
I platinumed the game a few weeks ago and have since put some hours into Legends. I can't wait for this. I'm upgrading to the PS5 edition for sure, as I simply want to see how they could possibly improve the already bewilderingly fast load times and beautiful graphics.
Tbf I'll buy ps5 upgrade with the expansion as one of my all time fravs games
Nice trailer. I might upgrade my copy
How do I pre-order PS5 upgrade?
@JechtUltima Same for me. 20 USD/EUR for the upgrade is fine but I most likely won’t spend the additional 10 EUR for the Ps5 Version.
The PS4 version runs with 60 Fps as well and it’s totally fine.
@Blacksmith1985 As the article states, the ability to do that becomes available on launch day.
Is "director's cut" gonna be the new GOTY edition? Or are we still gonna have those, as well?
Looks amazing. Just need the time to play it!!
Looks great but I'll be waiting for a sale to dive back in. I've got plenty games to play without dropping extra cash just now.
I've had GoT for ages and haven't even opened the case yet...shame on me but I'm well up for this expansion.
If it's near anywhere as good as a BotW expansion then it's a done deal.
@oconnoclast Cant you order it with delivery?
I just finished Demons Souls yesterday so almost perfect timing as this will definitely take priority until Lost Judgment time!
@TheMadRabbid not on the PS4 but on the Ps5.
Sorry my post was a bit misleading.
Still salty about the pricing of this tbh. I'm trying not to be but it's not working.
@hypnotoad "If it's near anywhere as good as a BotW expansion then it's a done deal."
Really? The $20 I spent on the BotW season pass I felt was some of my worst return on investment. Sure, the green line on the map was great, but the Ballad story was just a bunch of quests, and nobody was asking for a 1 hit kill section. I got to the 4 quests after that then stopped.
This seems more in line with Horizons Frozen Willd but not quite The Witcher 3's two expansions so just from what we know I'd say it's better than BotW. I just want to know if I like the main game first. 🤷♂️
Bought it, still haven't played it, waiting to see if the $20 improves the game on base PS4 or if it's just the extra island.
@zupertramp ps5
@rjejr if its anything like frozen wilds then it will be 100% worth it.
@twitchtvpat You having the only response, I guess that settles it. For the best I suppose, it'll be cheaper by then.
Played it on launch and platinumed it. Going to relive the experience with director's cut. And there will be cats! Or at least one cat. Foxes are cute, but they don't hold candle to cats
@twitchtvpat It looks like Frozen Wlds to me at first glance - new area with new missions that don't seem related to the main game. I doubt it will be that varied, FW had several different area, but it seems more similar to that than BotW extra quests.
Animals sound intrusive. Grant me the ability to squish all that come my way rendering it icky island
Not a fan of these Director's Cuts, just seems like something Nintendo would do (and does). But hey, there's more than enough chimpanzees willing to fork over their bananas to rebuy a game they finished 5 minutes ago, so what do I know?
@oconnoclast Ok here it never was totally closed and delivery never stopped you just didnt need to sign for your package.
